Multidisciplinary Long-Term Recovery

Respiratory clinic: Regions Bank, 539 Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard S. , Birmingham, Alabama 35233
Other specialties at additional locations.

The Post COVID Treatment Program will not be housed in a brick-and-mortar clinic. Rather, patients will be directed to the appropriate specialty and be seen in that area’s clinic for further evaluation.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham has begun to provide medical support for those experiencing progressive COVID-19 symptoms through their COVID Respiratory Clinic. UAB will treat those suffering from a range of post-COVID health issues, including cardiac, neurological, vocal, and mental health issues at the departments of Psychiatry and Neurology, and divisions of Cardiovascular Disease, Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, and Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine.

To start, individuals will complete a telehealth/phone health assessment with a UAB clinical provider. Then, based on the results of the assessment, individuals will either be admitted to the COVID Respiratory Clinic or be given prescriptions for medication and/or therapy to take/complete at home.

The Clinic will be open Monday-Friday from 1-4PM.

Patients must meet criteria including having a previous COVID-positive test, being at least three weeks out from their positive test, and exhibiting signs or symptoms from the COVID-19 disease process.

Patients can self-refer or be referred by a UAB physician or community physician. The Post COVID Treatment Program will have a dedicated clinical care coordinator who will reach out to patients discharged from UAB four to six weeks after their diagnosis/care to assess their symptoms and care needs.

To make an appointment, call the UAB COVID-19 Call Center at 205-975-1881 or visit the website.
