FEVER SURVEY REPORT

Fever Scans Offer False Sense of Security for Stopping the Spread of COVID-19

Survivor Corps and Dr. Natalie J. Lambert, Associate Professor and Director, Lambert Health Lab have just released the first results of the latest Survivor Corps symptom survey. This COVID-19 Fever Report is based on the responses of over 3,900 Survivors and concludes the following:

1. The heavy reliance on fever checks in COVID-19 screening policies is an insufficient method of preventing the spread of the disease.

2. Use of multiple indicators together as a screening tool is more advisable.

3. Six other symptoms were all reported more frequently than fever.

4. “What we need to solve this problem is the development of high-accuracy rapid COVID-19 tests that can be produced affordably & in large enough numbers”. Dr. Lambert

LONG TERM COVID-19

Institute for Globally Distributed Open Research and Education [IGDORE] is conducting a study to explore the lived experiences of persons affected by COVID-19 - with a focus on people of color.
Contact COVID19research@igdore.org. You will be asked to meet a researcher online for an interview and to share your story.

This study will help guide policy makers and healthcare providers as they improve health services and make decisions about how to best support individuals, families and communities affected by COVID-19.

Washington DC Survivors (18+):

National Institutes of Health [NIH] is doing an LTC-19 study on effects that may persist after COVID-19 infection and recovery in Washington, DC. Researchers aim to learn about long-term medical problems that survivors might have, and whether they develop an immune response to SARS-CoV-2 that provides protection against reinfection.

This is a great opportunity to get a series of medical tests you can use for your own care. Participants will have study visits every 6 months for 3 years.

ANTIBODY TESTING ‘PARTY’

Survivor Corps and Mt. Sinai Hospital NYC held a FREE Antibody Testing Drive Oct. 13, in NYC to test Survivors in order to provide them their ‘titer’ (antibody strength) levels for future blood and plasma donations.
